Paella Fiesta Competition

Roberts Point Park, October 21, 2023

Join us from 2 to 6 p.m. during the Wooden Boat Festival for a paella competition and tasting. Local chefs will cook their very best paella for judges and the public during the Wooden Boat Festival. Proceeds will benefit Farley Boat Works.

Tasting

Wristbands will be available to the public to taste the paella entries.

Information for Competitors

Timeline

  • 2 p.m. – Check-in/Station Assignment.
  • 5 p.m. – Competition Ends. Servings plated for presentation to the judges.
  • 5:15 p.m. – Each chef will give a brief presentation of their Paella. Be prepared to make a short statement about yourself as a chef, your work experience and the inspiration for your paella dish. You can also promote your restaurant or business — or let people know where they can find you cooking.

Prep Work

It is recommended that most of the prep work be done prior to the event. Teams are welcome to make a practice paella if you need to familiarize yourself with your pan, flame and outdoor conditions. The location of the event is in a marina and can be windy. Your practice paella can be served to the public.

What to Bring

  • Each chef may bring one assistant.
  • Paella pan 24” or greater, stand, burner, propane, all ingredients, cooler and tools. Since the the marina can be windy, burner windshields or extra aluminum foil can be used to help if needed.

  • Ingredients will not be provided.
  • A prep area/table will be provided.

  • 2023 Paella Fiesta Champion Trophy.
